Is your kid smarter than mine? Maybe, if he was enrolled at one of the pre-kindergarten programs that are offered by the state of Florida. After checking the preparedness for children entering into kindergarten this year, results showed the readiness rate of students up by 3% from last years results. Kindergartners are tested on the alphabet and numbers, phonics and their preparedness for a classroom atmosphere.
Even teachers agree they see a big difference in those students who attended pre-K. The state-funded program began in 2005, and is available at no charge to any child at the age of 4. And with results continuing to show improvement in students, the program will likely stay for quite some time.
In BrowardCounty this year, the kindergarten students preparedness was at 88%, and Palm Beach at 87%.
